Abstract: This article analyzes the reader-work-author triad in the street books Poesia circular, by Sivirino de Caju, and O menino invisível, by Hugo Barros. The original editions of the two literary creations were published on the walls and other surfaces of the Brazilian cities of Fortaleza and Brasilia, respectively, and the second editions were published in portable formats. Within the framework of the comparative study, the main characteristics of the two works are described, contextualized and compared in terms of the ideas of book, support, space, paratextuality, register and manner of reading. The original editions were read in situ and a comparison is made between the reading experiences of the different editions, with the aim of understanding what a street book consists of.

Resumen: En este artículo se analiza la tríada lector-obra-autor en los libros de la calle Poesia circular, de Sivirino de Caju, y O menino invisível, de Hugo Barros. Las ediciones originales de las dos creaciones literarias fueron publicadas en los muros y otras superficies de las ciudades brasileñas de Fortaleza y Brasilia, respectivamente, y las segundas ediciones en formatos portátiles. En el marco del estudio comparado se describen, contextualizan y confrontan las principales características de las dos obras en cuanto a las concepciones de libro, soporte, espacio, paratextualidad, registro y modo de lectura. Las ediciones originales fueron leídas in situ y se hace una comparación entre las experiencias de lectura en las diferentes ediciones, con el objetivo de comprender en qué consiste un libro de la calle.

The depletion of conventional energy sources and the concern with the environmental impacts of the use of fossil fuels sparked interest in researching new energy sources and improving existing processes. In this context, the solar energy presents itself as one of the most promising energy sources on the planet, given its wide availability and applicability in thermal processes. However, its use still represents a great technological and economic challenge, because many systems that use this energy still have low efficiency and high cost, which makes them uncompetitive in competition with systems using other energies. With that, the search for the improvement of the processes awakens the researches in more adequate and cheaper materials, which represents a great scientific potential in the evolution of these technologies. Thus, the present work proposes to obtain and analyze a selective surface for applications in solar-thermal collectors, using CRFO (compound formed by chromium and iron oxides), varying the percentage by weight, and then mixed with aluminum oxide. For the tests, an experimental bench was built to simulate a flat plate solar-thermal collector in real operating conditions. Some characterizations were carried out, such as: techniques scanning electron microscopy (SEM), infrared analysis and UV-VIS absorptivity determination, as well as the graphs with surface temperatures and with radiation during the tests in the Sun for the composite (CRFO and aluminum oxide) and for the commercial surface (MRTiNOX). With the results obtained, it was verified in the field test that one of the produced selective surfaces obtained a result of absorptivity of 0.94 and 0.0349 of emissivity, which is close to that of the commercial surface. The results were confirmed in the characterization by UV-VIS, which showed high absorptivity values in the visible light range.

ABSTRACT Fragmentation is one of the main causes of biodiversity loss in tropical forests through consequences on their different components. Beta diversity patterns across fragments have been studied across multiple spatial scales, but comparisons with intact landscapes and in a variety of vegetation types are scarce. In order to address this issue of anthropogenic landscape disturbance, we tested two hypotheses relating to fragmentation and beta diversity: 1. Floristic homogenization at patch-level scale and 2. Floristic differentiation at landscape-level scale. The study was conducted in the Espinhaço Range biosphere reserve, Brazil. Three landscapes encompassing a broad range of vegetation types were sampled in 115 plots. Two landscapes were fragmented due to mining activities (Sabará and Brumadinho) and one is protected (Parque Estadual Serra do Rola-Moça). Results showed high overall beta diversity both between landscapes (conserved and fragmented) and vegetation types (forest, Brazilian savanna “campos rupestres”, ecotone and ironstone “canga”) with high turnover and species losses, even in highly disturbed vegetation types. The conserved landscape was most diverse in terms of richness. Thus, fragmentation effects differed from the expected with a main role of differentiation processes, and we argue that high beta diversity is not always a good predictor of ecosystem health.

Abstract In this article, bandwidth enhancement of a microstrip patch antenna using a new kind of metasurface is discussed. This new geometry is used to generate new resonances in antenna and with an optimal position of the metasurface in relation to antenna we can overlap the resonances and obtain a large bandwidth. The proposed antenna showed a bandwidth from 5.1 GHz to 8.0 GHz what can it able to be applied in WiFi 5 and 6. Numerical results were obtained with Ansys HFSS software. A prototype was built and measurements for S11, Smith chart and gain were performed. Numerical and experimental results are in good agreement.

Abstract In the Xingu river basin, Brazil, occurs two genera of Potamotrygonidae family: Potamotrygon and Paratrygon. In this region, the taxa have significant economic importance for the ornamental fishing industry, being intensively captured, especially the species Potamotrygon leopoldi, which is endemic to this basin. In the attempt to propose a species-specific DNA marker for the species from Xingu, as well as ensuring a robust and reliable molecular identification, the present work analysed mitochondrial gene portions Cytochrome Oxidase C – subunit I (COI) and Cytochrome B (Cytb) of five species: P. leopoldi; Potamotrygon orbignyi; Potamotrygon motoro; Potamotrygon scobina and Paratrygon aiereba. We found haplotype sharing, with a total absence of reciprocal monophyly in the majority of taxa. Individuals morphologically identified as a species showed mitochondrial DNA from another, suggesting the first record of hybridization amongst freshwater stingrays of Xingu. Also, we detected a deep divergence among Paratrygon aiereba haplotypes, indicative of speciation, suggesting the possibility of a new species for the Xingu river. Therefore, although the is still confusing and controversial taxonomy of freshwater stingrays, and evidencing hybridization processes that may have shaped the evolutionary history of this Family, the genes COI and Cytb can successfully help in the their species identification.

RESUMO Avaliar a relação do nível de atividade física com o perfil antropométrico, percepção de qualidade de vida e saúde mental em policiais militares do Estado de Sergipe (PM/SE). Estudo transversal que contou com 30 policiais militares do sexo masculino, com idade entre 28 a 40 anos. Utilizaram o pedômetro durante quatro dias, posteriormente responderam questionários sobre: Dados Demográficos, Antropométricos e Ocupacionais; IPAQ versão curta; WHOQOL; Escala de Ansiedade, Depressão e Estresse. Apresentaram, prevalência de policiais ativos (70%) e não apresentam sintomas para problemas que afetem a saúde mental. 66,67% relataram boa percepção e qualidade de vida e 70% estavam satisfeitos com sua saúde. Houve correlação do nível de atividade física com o estresse no dia de serviço e no primeiro dia de folga com indicadores de qualidade de vida. Houve correlação do nível de atividade do primeiro dia de folga com os domínios Físico (R=0,411; p<0,05) e do Meio Ambiente (R=0,511; p<0,05). Apresentou-se bons níveis de saúde mental. Quanto ao nível de atividade física, percebeu-se relação positiva do dia de serviço com a variável estresse. Houve relações positivas do nível de atividade do primeiro dia de folga com os domínios Físico e Meio Ambiente a respeito da Qualidade de Vida.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the level of physical activity and the anthropometric profile, perception of quality of life, and mental health in military police officers from the State of Sergipe (PM / SE). This cross-sectional study involved 30 male military police officers, aged 28 to 40 years. They used the pedometer for four days, then answered questionnaires about: Demographic, Anthropometric, and Occupational Data; IPAQ short version; WHOQOL; Anxiety, Depression and Stress Scale. They had a prevalence of active police (70%) and had no symptoms for problems that affect mental health. 66.67% reported good perception and quality of life, and 70% were satisfied with their health. There was a correlation between the level of physical activity and stress on the day of service and the first day off with quality-of-life indicators. There was a correlation between the activity level of the first day off with the Physical (R = 0.411; p <0.05) and the Environment (R = 0.511; p <0.05) domains. Good levels of mental health were presented. As for the level of physical activity, there was a positive relationship between the day of service and the stress variable. There were positive relationships between the activity level of the first day off and the Physical and Environment domains regarding Quality of Life.

Resumo Este estudo mapeou perfis de idosos praticantes de atividades prazerosas e relacionou tais perfis com variáveis sociodemográficas e estado funcional. Idosos (n=330) sem comprometimento cognitivo, residentes da comunidade e com diferentes níveis de vulnerabilidade social (acessado pelo Índice Paulista de Vulnerabilidade Social) responderam um questionário sociodemográfico, a escala de Pfeffer (funcionalidade) e o OPPES-BR (prática de atividades prazerosas). Por meio da análise de cluster combinando-se o método hierárquico e não-hierárquico foram identificados cinco perfis de idosos: muito ativos; muito ativos sociáveis; minimalistas; pouco ativos contemplativos; e pouco ativos intelectuais. Manter alta frequência em diversos tipos de atividades prazerosas associou-se à maior escolaridade, menor vulnerabilidade social e menor dependência funcional. O perfil dos pouco ativos contemplativos foi o mais vulnerável, com maior declínio funcional, vulnerabilidade social e taxa de analfabetismo. Diante da diversidade de perfis de idosos, são necessárias políticas públicas favorecedoras ao acesso a atividades prazerosas, principalmente aos mais vulneráveis.

Abstract This study mapped profiles of older adults who participated in pleasant events, and related these profiles with sociodemographic and functional state. Older adults (n=330) without cognitive impairments, community residents and with different social vulnerability levels (accessed by the Paulista Index of Social Vulnerability) answered a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Pfeffer Scale (functionality) and the OPPES-BR (involvement in pleasant activities). By applying a cluster analysis, which combined the hierarchical and non-hierarchical method, five profiles of older adults were identified: highly active; highly socially active; minimalists; little active contemplative; and little active intellectual. Maintaining high frequency in pleasant activities was associated with a higher education, lower social vulnerability, and less functional dependence. The little active contemplative was the most vulnerable profile, with higher scores on functional decline, social vulnerability, and illiteracy rates. Considering the diversity of the older adult’s profiles, public policies favoring the access to pleasant events are needed, especially for the most vulnerable ones.

Resumen Este estudio diseñó perfiles de ancianos que practican actividades placenteras y relacionó estos perfiles con variables sociodemográficas y estado funcional. Los ancianos (n = 330) sin comprometimiento cognitivo, residentes de la comunidad y con diferentes niveles de vulnerabilidad social (accesado por el Índice Paulista de Vulnerabilidad Social) respondieron un cuestionario sociodemográfico, Escala de Pfeffer (funcionalidad) y el OPPES-BR (práctica de actividades placenteras). Por medio de análisis de Cluster, combinando el método jerárquico y no-jerárquico, fueron identificados cinco perfiles de ancianos: muy activos; muy activos sociables; minimalistas; poco activos contemplativos; y poco activos intelectuales. Mantener alta frecuencia en diversas actividades placenteras presentó una asociación con mayor escolaridad, menor vulnerabilidad social y menor dependencia funcional. El perfil de los poco activos contemplativos fue el más vulnerable, con mayor declive funcional, vulnerabilidad social y tasa de analfabetismo. Ante la diversidad de perfiles de ancianos, son necesarias políticas públicas que favorezcan el acceso a actividades placenteras, principalmente a los más vulnerables.

Resumen Se estimaron los volúmenes molares o las densidades de seis alcoholes puros pertenecientes a la industria de biocombustibles para diferentes valores de temperatura dentro del rango de 280 K a 333 K utilizando un modelo desarrollado a partir de la ecuación de equilibrio de vapor líquido o la ecuación de Clausius-Clapeyron. El segundo coeficiente virial (B) se calculó a partir de los datos predictivos aplicados al modelo. Como es ampliamente conocido, las variaciones en el valor B se reflejarían en los volúmenes molares de los compuestos con resultados similares. En este trabajo, se observó que las desviaciones fueron positivas para todas las especies estudiadas y aumentaron entre los alcoholes de cadena larga de carbono. Cuando estuvo disponible, se realizó una comparación entre el volumen molar experimental y el volumen molar predicho.

Abstract The molar volumes or densities of six pure alcohols belonged to biofuel industry have been estimated for different values of temperatures within the range between 280 K and 333 K, using a model developed from vapour-liquid equilibrium equation or Clausius-Clapeyron Equation. The second virial coefficient (B) has been calculated from predictive data applied to the model. As widely known, variations in the B value would reflect in the compounds molar volumes with similar result. In this work, it was observed that the deviations were positive for all studied species, and they increased among long carbon chain alcohols. When avalaible, a comparison between experimental and predicted molar volume was done.

Resumo Os volumes molares ou densidades de seis álcoois puros pertencentes à indústria de biocombustíveis foram estimados para diferentes valores de temperaturas dentro da faixa entre 280 K e 333 K, utilizando um modelo desenvolvido a partir da equação de equilíbrio líquido-vapor ou Equação de ClausiusClapeyron. O segundo coeficiente virial (B) foi calculado a partir de dados preditivos aplicados ao modelo. Como amplamente conhecido, variações no valor de B refletiriam nos volumes molares dos compostos com resultado semelhante. Neste trabalho, observou-se que os desvios foram positivos para todas as espécies estudadas e aumentaram entre os álcoois de longa cadeia de carbono. Quando disponível, foi feita uma comparação entre o volume molar experimental e o predito.

ABSTRACT The depletion of fossil fuel reserves and climate change caused by atmospheric pollution has led the human being to seek alternatives that are less damaging to the environment. The concern and the awareness of the population open space for the study of renewable energies to be deepened, among them the best use of solar energy. The use of alternative materials to replace selective surfaces is a natural trend, since improvements in surface efficiency are usually sought while attempting to reduce costs. Composite substances are already used to obtain some selective surfaces, and, as a result, the search for better processes awakens research on more appropriate and lower cost materials, which represents a great scientific potential in the evolution of these technologies. Thus, the present work consisted in obtaining and studying selective surfaces for applications in low-cost flat plate solar collectors, using residues from the granite industry. Five different surfaces were studied, varying the weight percentage: 100% granite powder, 75% granite powder + 25% chromium oxide, 50% granite powder + 50% chromium oxide, 25% granite powder + 75% chromium oxide and 100% chromium oxide. For the tests, an experimental wooden stand was built, and it was possible to simulate the conditions of a flat plate solar collector. To characterize the surfaces, scanning electron microscope (SEM) techniques, infrared analysis, X-ray diffraction and UV-VIS absorbance determination, as well as graphs with surface temperatures and with radiation, during the tests in the sun, were used. The surfaces` efficiency was determined by the ratio of the absorptivity by the emissivity, as well as the trademark MRTiNOX, a commercial selective surface applied on copper substrate. For this, an efficiency of 23.56 was obtained, while for the 50% granite and 50% chromium surfaces the value of 23.27 (closest to the trade mark) was calculated. Therefore, replacing the traditional components of selective surfaces with granite proved to be a satisfactory solution, contributing to the reduction of costs with work involving solar energy.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of different carbohydrate and lipid (CHO/L) ratios on the performance and energy metabolism of hybrid catfish (♂Pseudoplatystoma corruscans × ♀ Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum). One hundred and sixty-eight fish (104.9±16.5 g BW) were distributed into 24 100-L tanks. The experiment was performed using a randomised block design with four CHO/L ratios (0.45, 1.00, 1.66 and 2.85) and six replications. Growth performance, protein content, glucose and triglycerides in plasma, muscle and liver, and the hepatic activity of the malic and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) enzymes were measured after 60 feeding days. No significant differences were observed in growth performance, protein and triglycerides of plasma and muscle, hepatic protein or malic enzyme activity. CHO/L: 2.85 provided the highest plasma and liver glucose, while CHO/L: 0.45 showed high liver triglycerides. A linear effect was found for the hepatic activity of G6PD and dietary starch levels (R2=0.93). The hepatic activity of G6PD was greater in CHO/L=2.85 than for CHO/L: 0.45. In conclusion, the limit of dietary starch inclusion and lipids were 15% and 9.00%, respectively (CHO/L: 1.66), and this level did not affect the energy metabolism of the juvenile hybrid catfish.

RESUMO Este trabalho teve como objetivo analisar a ocorrência de processo sucessional em uma floresta madura, utilizando para isto a distribuição das árvores em fases de desenvolvimento. O fragmento estudado consiste em uma floresta estacional semidecidual em estágio avançado de recuperação com cerca de 11 ha, localizado as margens do Rio Capivari no município de Lavras, estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil. A coleta de dados ocorreu nos anos de 1998, 2003, 2009 e 2014, nos quais foram mensurados e identificados em nível de espécie todos os indivíduos arbóreos que atingiram o critério de inclusão preestabelecido (circunferência a 1,3 m do solo - CAP≥15,7 cm). A partir destes dados foram obtidos os valores de riqueza para cada uma das quatro fases estabelecidas com base em critérios de circunferência (Juvenis, Preestabelecidos, Estabelecidos e Emergentes), bem como informações sobre rotatividade de espécies, estrutura, composição florística e compartilhamento entre essas fases. Os resultados indicaram a inexistência de diferenças temporais quanto à estrutura e distribuição da riqueza em fases de desenvolvimento. Foram observadas movimentações temporais de espécies principalmente entre as fases menores. Com relação à similaridade entre fases, ocorreu a divisão em um grupo contendo as duas menores e outro composto pelas duas maiores, nos quais a composição florística e espécies mais representativas foram mais semelhantes. Ademais, observou-se uma substituição não direcional das espécies mais representativas de cada fase, provavelmente relacionado a não correspondência entre ciclos de vida das populações. Assim, a ocorrência de modificações temporais nos padrões de riqueza na floresta indica a existência de processos sucessionais dinâmicos em uma comunidade em estágio clímax.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to test the occurrence of the successional process in a mature forest using the distribution of the trees in phases of development. The study forest remnant, a 11-ha old-growth seasonal forest, is located in the margins of Rio Capivari in Lavras, Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The data collection was carried out in 1998, 2003, 2009 and 2014, when we measured and identified to species level all trees that have reached the pre-established inclusion criteria (circumference at 1.3 above the ground level - CBH ≥15,7 cm). From these data, we obtained the species richness for each of the four development phases established on the basis of circumference criteria (Juvenile, Pre-established, Established and Emerging), as well as information on the species turnover, structure, floristic composition and the sharing between these phases The results indicated that there are no significant temporal differences in the structure and the distribution of species richness in development phases. Besides, we found a subtle movement of species mainly among the small phases. Concerning to the similarity among phases, we observed a clustering of the two smallest development phases and the clustering of the two largest ones, in which the floristic composition and most representative species were more similar. In addition, there was a non-directional turnover of the most representative species of each phase, probably related to a mismatch among the population life cycles. Thus, the occurrence of temporal changes in richness’ patterns can indicate the existence of dynamic succession processes in a climax stage community.

Dando continuidade ao estudo referente à utilização de Dinâmica dos Fluidos Computacional (DFC) no ensino de física e engenharia, o presente trabalho visa analisar e comparar, com fins didáticos, soluções obtidas numericamente com soluções analíticas e empíricas, comumente apresentadas em sala de aula e de interesse de laboratórios de graduação, de problemas clássicos envolvendo dinâmica dos fluidos e transferência de calor. Neste estudo o foco maior foi dado a problemas de transferência de calor. Para o cálculo das soluções numéricas foi utilizado um dos softwares representantes do estado da arte de DFC, o ANSYS CFX 12.1. Os problemas escolhidos foram: convecção em placa plana em regime laminar, escoamento laminar em torno de um cilindro aquecido, escoamento interno turbulento em dutos circulares aquecidos e trocador de calor de tubos concêntricos. Estes problemas, aqui apresentados, foram escolhidos e resolvidos por alunos de graduação, avalizando a utilidade da DFC como ferramenta de aprendizado de fenômenos físicos.

Continuing the study on the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in physics and engineering teaching, the present work aims to analyze and compare, for didactic purposes, solutions numerically obtained against known analytical and empirical solutions, commonly presented in the classroom and in undergraduate labs, of classical problems involving fluid dynamics and heat transfer. In this study the main focus was pointed to heat transfer problems. For the numerical solutions computation, one of the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) softwares that represent its state-of-the-art, ANSYS CFX 12.1 was employed. The chosen problems were: laminar heated plate convection, laminar flow around a heated cylinder, turbulent internal flow in heated circular ducts and concentric tubes heat exchanger. These problems were chosen and solved by undergraduate students, demonstrating the usefulness of CFD as a tool for learning physical phenomena.

Avaliaram-se o efeito de fungicidas e agente de controle biológico Trichoderma harzianum na inibição da germinação carpogênica e de ascósporos de Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. Também foram avaliados os controles químico e biológico do mofo branco ou podridão branca da haste na cultura da soja em condições de campo. Foram desenvolvidos três ensaios, sendo: 1) inibição da germinação carpogênica; 2) inibição da germinação de ascósporos; e 3) controle da podridão branca da haste na cultura da soja em condições de campo. Os tratamentos avaliados foram fluazinam, procimidona, iprodione, tiofanato metílico, carbendazim, cloreto de benzalcônio + fluazinam e T. harzianum. O procimidona resultou em inibição de 13,5% e o cloreto de benzalcônio + fluazinam em 13,9% de inibição no teste de inibição da germinação dos ascósporos. Fluazinam e procimidona foram os mais eficientes na redução da produção de ascósporos/apotécio representando 65,6% e 82,4% de inibição. O procimidona e fluazinam se combinados com cloreto de benzalcônio ou não foram os mais eficientes no controle da podridão branca da haste em condições de campo, quando aplicados no início do florescimento e 15 dias após. Na safra 2009-10, esses dois fungicidas reduziram a incidência da podridão branca da haste, em 73,1 e 71,6% e, na safra 2010-11, reduziram em 75,7 e 77,6%, respectivamente.

It was evaluated the effect of fungicides and the microbial control agent Trichoderma harzianum on the inhibition of the carpogenic and ascospore germination of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. This study also evaluated the chemical, fungicidal and microbial control of white mold or Sclerotinia stem rot of soybean in the field. Three experiments were conducted, as follows: 1) inhibition of carpogenic germination of sclerotia, 2) inhibition of ascospore germination, and 3) control of Sclerotinia stem rot in a soybean crop under field conditions. The treatments evaluated were fluazinam, procymidone, iprodione, thiophanate-methyl, carbendazim, benzalkonium chloride + fluazinam, and T. harzianum. Procymidone resulted in an inhibition of 13.5% and benzalkonium chloride in an inhibition of 13.9% in an ascospore germination test. Fluazinam and procymidone were the most effective in reducing the production of ascospores/apothecium, representing 65.6% and 82.4% of inhibition. Procymidone and fluazinam if combined or not with benzalkonium chloride were the most effective in controlling sclerotinia stem rot under field conditions when applied at the onset of flowering and 15 days later. In the 2009-10 harvest, these two fungicides reduced the incidence of Sclerotinia stem rot by 73.1 and 71.6% and in the 2010-11 harvest by 75.7 and 77.6%, respectively.

As causas da localização e disseminação dos condomínios-clube em Natal, bem como as estratégias utilizadas pelos empresários urbanos para transformar a configuração residencial, são alvos da investigação que resultou neste trabalho. A principal consequência desse novo fenômeno é a ratificação do processo de segmentação urbana existente na cidade, que é um elemento essencial na relação existente entre acumulação capitalista e produção do espaço urbano. A inovação espacial pretendida pelos empresários urbanos como forma de diferenciação e aumento dos lucros gera, por outro lado, uma homogeneização do espaço residencial por meio da disseminação da tipologia condomínio-clube pela cidade. Com base em autores como Harvey e Abramo, é possível perceber a relação entre o desenvolvimento capitalista e a forma espacial urbana. Além de pesquisa bibliográfica, a metodologia utilizada baseou-se em entrevistas semiestruturadas junto aos agentes do mercado imobiliário, para abranger a relação entre a materialidade construída (estoques habitacionais) e o discurso hegemônico que orienta a configuração residencial da cidade. Como resultado, observou-se que tal discurso tende para um ponto comum, isto é, há uma convergência dos pensamentos e da prática dos agentes acerca da localização e das características de cada empreendimento. Como consequência imediata, tem-se uma homogeneização socioespacial em certos bairros em detrimento do restante da cidade.

This paper addresses the reasons that led to the spread of ‘Condomínios-clubes’ in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte state, Brazil, as well as the strategies put forward by urban entrepreneurs to promote the transformation of residential space in the city. The main result of this process is the consolidation of urban segmentation, which is a crucial element in the relationship between capital accumulation and production of urban space. Spatial innovation and its dissemination (convention), promoted by urban entrepreneurs in order to maximize profits, generates, as a rule, a certain homogenization of residential space; in this case, through the promotion of ‘Condomínios-clubes’. Based on authors such as David Harvey and Pedro Abramo to analyze the theoretical background, it is possible to understand the relationship between urban spatial form and capitalist development. In addition to a literature review, the methodology of this study also included open interviews with real estate managers in order to consider the relation between the built environment (housing stock) and the hegemonic discourse that seems to guide the residential market in the city. The results clearly show that this discourse tends towards a common objective; there is a convergence in the thinking and practice of real estate agents regarding the location and characteristics of each sort of real estate development. This has caused a sociospatial homogenization of certain neighborhoods at the expense of the rest of the city.
